Race Report by Statesboro Pacer, Micah Ward

1/14/06, Museum of Aviation Foundation Half Marathon, hosted by the Robins Pacers in Warner Robins, www.robinspacers.org

Saturday, January 14 was the Aviation Museum Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K in Warner Robins. Catherine [Micah's wife] didn't feel like she was ready for a half marathon but since my daughter Elizabeth was visiting from VA, she and I decided to go. We left the house at 4:30 that morning and I drove while Elizabeth snored. The registration and awards ceremonies were held in the main hangar of the museum so we didn't have to worry about the low 40's temp and strong winds until it was time to start the race. I haven't seen the official results yet but it looked like there were about 200 runners combined for the two races. The course is one loop around the Air Force Base for the half and two loops for the whole marathon. It is a predominately flat course with just a couple of what we would call hills, but Elizabeth referred to them as insignificant inclines. We both had good races with me running a 2:11:59 [half marathon] which I am very satisfied with. And if a proud Dad can be allowed to brag....Elizabeth ran 1:39:38 and finished 3rd overall female.
